HOW TO CHOOSE LED SPOTLIGHT

 • Estimate desired wattage - read the bulb description to choose desired illumination level. But you may also consider the beam angle which determines the illumineted area. The bigger it is - the more area under the spotlight is covered but the luminous flux (the amount of light) is spreaded evenly through so the real brightness will be less. In case the angle is narrow the less powerful spotlight may give you more brightness of the spot but the coverage are will be less.

• Choose between warm and cool light - new LED bulbs are available in 'cool' white light, which is good for task lighting, and 'warm' light commonly used for living areas and houses. Standard halogen and incandescent bulbs mostly have warm white. The common mistake is that the "white" light which is cool white is brighter than "yellow" (which stands for warm). This is not true. If the Lumen is the same - the brightness will be the same. 

• Make sure for the socket base and voltage of your spotlights. Find out if it is GU10 or MR16 (GU 5.3) and if it is 12V or 240V. Check for the specifications to make sure you are buying the correct one.
